Center station- In Center Station, there is the Clock, Stats, Announcer and Music Volunteers sit and work the game.
Clock- There is 1 volunteer per game who stops and starts the clock every time the referees' whistle is blown or a goal is made as well as displaying penalties during the game for the appropriate team. There is a strict protocol sheet that must be followed and this is handed out before every game during the pre-game staff and volunteer meeting. This person needs to be at the arena 1 1/2 before the puck drops to participate in the meeting.
Stats- There is 1 volunteer per game who keeps track of the penalties, shots on goal and scores throughout the game. The volunteer must know the rules of the game and penalty signs are from the officials. They will need to be at the arena 45 minutes prior to the puck dropping and they will have to stay after the game approximately 30 minutes to finalize the stats and get the required signatures.
Announcer- There is 1 volunteer per game who announces the names of the players on both sides, advertisements, goals and penalties. It does help if the volunteer knows some of the rules in hockey, but not needed. This person should be at the arena 1 1/2 hours prior to the puck dropping to get correct pronunciation for the visiting teams and to be in the meeting.
Music- There is 1 volunteer per game who will be in charge of the music during periods, penalties, intermissions and before the game. There is a laptop that will be provided at the game that will have all the music ready to go. There is set up time prior to the game starting and this person needs to be at the games 1 hour before the puck drops.
Goal Judge- There are 2 volunteers per game (one at each end of the ice) with a switch in their hand. Their job is to watch the puck to see if it goes over the red line into the goal net to make a goal. If the puck does cross the red line completely, then the Goal Judge will flip the switch. These volunteers will need to be at the arena 45 minutes prior to the puck dropping.
Penalty Box- There are 2 volunteers per game (one on either side of the Center Station). Their job is to open and shut the door when the player goes in and out of the penalty box. These volunteers will need to be at the arena 45 minutes prior to the puck dropping.
Ticket Taker- There are 2 people per game that greet patrons as they come into the ice arena. Their job is to take the ticket or the season ticket from the patrons. They are to come 1 1/2 hours before the game and they are to make sure no one without a ticket enters the arena.
